Bowie School Museum

-A A +A
c. 1900. Colorado 187, 1 mile north of Paonia

A handsome two-room frame schoolhouse in use until 1958 is now operated as a museum by the North Fork of the Gunnison River Historical Society. The school was moved from Bowie, a typical coal mining town two miles northeast whose mine office and boarding house, like its mine, are now ruins.
