The congregation was formed in Bonham in 1872 and acquired a building for worship two blocks south of the present site in 1885. In 1892, the wooden building was moved to its current location and was modified and enlarged to form a cruciform plan. An exceptional Gothic Revival church emerged from this reconfiguration, featuring a side bell tower that rises in three stages to a spire. Flared skirt roofs, ornamented gables, and brackets and modillions under the eaves add Queen Anne and classical features. The stained glass windows were installed in 1942 and a bell several years later.
