The classical portico of the former Travis Lodge, a two-story structure of buff brick over a raised basement, is reached by a two-flight run of monumental steps, an exaggerated processional way for the modest height. Paired columns with early Greek Corinthian capitals support the pedimented portico. The building was sold and converted to a museum of jazz in 1985, with collections and artifacts of nationally renowned musicians.
