Chase Bank Tower (Texas Commerce Bank)

The third office high-rise in downtown Dallas by Richard Keating of the SOM Houston office, the fifty-five story bank headquarters has one of the most distinctive top profiles in the city. The curved top, notched like a missing keystone, spans an eight-story void (to relieve wind loads) with a glass curtain wall that contrasts with the stone grid of the tower. A spacious amphitheater-like plaza on Ross Avenue is a larger public space than any in the Arts District itself, and a domed rotunda gestures on axis with the Meyerson Symphony Center (DS37), a block north.
