John Faires House

This cottage situated amid historic structures in the Chestnut Square Historic Village is a Greek Revival gem in a city of Queen Anne and Prairie Style houses. The house was built by blacksmith John Faires only six years after McKinney was founded in 1848. It is the oldest structure in the city and was moved a short distance to this site in 1975. It is a one-story, frame dwelling on a raised base, with a projecting Greek pediment entrance portico that reflects the central hallway plan.
