Malo Mansion

-A A +A
1921, Harry James Manning. 500 E. 8th Ave. (southeast corner of Pennsylvania St.)

One of the city's finest Spanish Colonial Revival mansions, this twenty-three-room, two-story stucco villa exults in finely crafted detail, such as the hand-painted rosettes on the overhanging eaves. Oscar Malo, a president of the Colorado Milling and Elevator Company, also had the architect include rose patterns in stained glass throughout. A sensitive 1980s rear upper-story addition does not detract from this refined specimen.
