The theater’s vertical banner sign marks the east end of the downtown commercial district. The left half of the facade supports the sign, the marquee, a deeply recessed entrance, and a green neon scroll design across the upper wall of contrasting red brick diagonal stripes. The right half of the building in tawny brick is punctuated with red brick squares. Kyburz (1900–1972) of Beaumont designed movie houses for the Jefferson Amusement Company, working on those in Houston, Baytown, and Longview. Local developer Bill Bryant recently saved the theater from demolition by first converting some of the interior into ten loft apartments in 2013. The next phase will reconstruct the lobby and a smaller theater.
