WALKER COTTAGE

This shingled bungalow is a remarkable survivor of early-twentieth-century Ocean City, retaining its large lot as well as the integrity of its original design. It was built for William Walker of Washington, who referred to it as Romarletta. The summer cottage features a pyramidal roof with front dormer and an inviting wraparound porch. It remained in the Walker family until 1950. Today, it is one of a number of bungalows that now appear incongruously among the flashy, large-scale hotels that dominate Baltimore Avenue.
