Mill Creek Circle Houses

For their own residences, many Vail town founders chose lots along Mill Creek at the end of the Gold Peak ski run. These unpretentious, functional houses are now endangered, eminently replaceable by larger, glitzier homes. Fritz Benedict, a well-known Aspen architect, designed 375 Mill Creek Circle, demolished in 1995 for a larger residence, in the Prairie Style. Fitzhugh Scott's Tyrolean design (1965), 304 Mill Creek, has a battered stucco base, solid plank walls, painted shutters, and window flower boxes.
