Alice Bemis Taylor, who donated the Day Nursery, joined other wealthy donors to raise $6,000 for the adjacent Boys Club. The Penrose family donated a gymnasium (1910) designed with Modernist massing, although the trim details and entry surrounds are Tudor-influenced, as is the variegated brick skin, which matches the Day Nursery. Remodeled most recently in 1984, the gym is now office space.
