This clubhouse, built originally as a residence, displays a profusion of ornament, including curvilinear gable ends on southfacing dormers and a dragon finial from the Hassell Iron Works atop the corner tower. A single-story wing with Neoclassical detailing extends from the west side of the large Queen Anne Style house. The building became the clubhouse of the oldest (1877) private men's club in the Rockies, whose membership has virtually defined the power elite of Colorado Springs. Despite additions and remodelings, the clubhouse has maintained a domesticity that contrasts pleasantly with neighboring commercial and public buildings.
