A soaring, turreted bell tower with four ornate spires caps this Gothic Revival church by Boston architects known for their ecclesiastical works, including the Episcopal Cathedral in Baltimore, Trinity Chapel in Hartford, Connecticut, and the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. For Grace Episcopal Church, they used rough-faced stone, buttresses, and recessed Gothic-arched openings to unify an asymmetrical design in one of Colorado's finest rhyolite structures.
The lovely chapel of rough-faced rhyolite (1894, Thomas MacLaren) that originally housed the congregation, seven blocks south at 217 East Pikes Peak Avenue, has been converted to a restaurant.
