This two-classroom, center-hall plan school, raised a full story on concrete piers and with a gallery accessed by French doors, resembles a large raised cottage more than a typical school. The only known work by local architect John Henry, this Craftsman building of simple geometric forms features a concrete divided stair that leads to the upper, principal floor. Converted to a residence, the sturdy building provided shelter to its occupants and to four neighbors who floated here in a boat during Hurricane Katrina.
