A red hipped roof, deep eaves with carved rafters, and buff brick walls give a Mediterranean flair to an otherwise classical building. At the center of the symmetrical three-part facade, a tetrastyle Roman Ionic portico supports a terra-cotta entablature and raised parapet lined with anthemion antefixae. The white marble monument by the Columbus Marble Works (PR28) at the front of the lawn was dedicated in 1926 to the memory of both Civil War and World War I dead.
Krouse’s stylistic versatility is evident in the Tudor Revival First Baptist Church (1930–1931) opposite at 203 S. Main, where decorative brickwork includes diapering, glazed headers, stacked headers, and chevrons.
