The CCC built this fine fortress, the last fire detection tower left in the park, in the rustic style of the National Park Service. The three-story tower overlooking Shadow Mountain Lake and Recreation Area is 13 feet square at its base. Battered, uncoursed rubblestone supports the third-story overhanging log porch of a frame and glass lookout.
