One of the town's most elegant frame houses follows the Classical Revival style with its pedimented doorways and windows, a Tuscan-columned, full-length porch, corner pilasters, a low, pedimented roofline, and symmetrical dignity. Built by one of the Hendrie brothers, who operated the foundry across the street, it was purchased by Benjamin P. Thomas. The interior furnishings, virtually unchanged since 1917, inspired the Gilpin County Historical Society to open it as a house museum.
