The Reverend Theodore Hawley, who had an architecture degree from Carthage College in Illinois, designed this fortresslike Gothic Revival brick church. The squat corner building with its stepped parapet still lacks a projected tower that would have made it more graceful. The stonemason, William McDonald, also worked on the Carnegie Library ( LA02).
