Little is evident of the earlier structure on this site, for the building was vastly enlarged into its present two-story temple format around the middle of the nineteenth century. The size indicates the power the Baptists came to exercise in rural areas. The details, such as the modillion cornice and the doorway, are similar to illustrations in Minard Lafever's various books.
