Two-Bar Ranch

c. 1895. 1 mile south of Colorado 318 in Brown's Park National Wildlife Refuge (NR)

This is a remnant of the once vast cattle ranch of James S. Hoy with headquarters on the Little Snake River in Wyoming. By 1910 it had become a part of the extensive holdings of the Haley Live-Stock and Trading Company, one of the largest cattle operations in Colorado and Wyoming. Some of the original construction material may have been salvaged from Fort Davy Crockett. Today the buildings are deteriorated, with neither windows nor interior finish, but the hewn log bunk-house and two-room ranch house continue to stand among several log outbuildings and pole corrals as remnants of the ranching past.
