Pappy's Place (Western Federation of Miners Hall)

During its campaign for an eight-hour workday, $3-a-day wages, and safer mining conditions, the WFM built this single-story gabled building. Like the builders of the Creede Boarding House ( ML05), they used wood frames to form walls made of concrete and cinders and rubble from one of Creede's many fires. A stepped false front on the gable end frames a transomed single door between two large, transomed shop windows. A later porch on the south, covered by an extension of the roof, is supported with turned posts fronting what is now a fast food restaurant.
