1896–1899. 2 miles south of Fairplay, turn west and proceed 11 miles up Horseshoe/Four Mile Creek on Park County 18

This ghost town, with ruins of the Hilltop and Dauntless mines and mills, was named for the mining man who brought in a spur of the DSP&P. After the Last Chance Mine was discovered near here on Mount Sheridan, it attracted prospectors, mills, and a little community that had a post office for only three years. The best-preserved buildings, including a one-room trapper's cabin and the Hoffman Brothers Blacksmith Shop, have been moved to the South Park City Museum ( PK01).
