Aspen Music School

-A A +A
1880s, 1951. 1038 Castle Creek Rd.

The Aspen Music School started in an old mine structure and has had various additions. Taliesen graduates Fritz Benedict and Curtis Bessinger complemented the original low-slung, raw wood buildings clustered around ponds beside Castle Creek with simple frame and shake shingle construction. Low-pitched hipped roofs and balconies over the water lend the campus a Japanese tranquility prized by both Bauhaus and Wrightian schools.
