Pekkarine Building

-A A +A
1880s. 222 W. Colorado Ave. (between Oak and Fir sts.)

A successful Finnish immigrant built this two-story brick building, where he opened a boot shop in the basement, a mercantile on the first floor, and family apartments on the second floor. Although architecturally undistinguished, it is one of the oldest, least altered Colorado Avenue buildings.
