Atlantic Cable Mine

1878. West side of Colorado 145 at the north end of town

In 1878 John Glasgow and others located this claim, later consolidated with others as the Dolores Silver Mining Company. The headframe and shaft remain visible today. The mine produced substantial silver, zinc, lead, and copper until the 1940s.
