Originally Methodist but now eager for any worshippers, the Bowen Community Church is distinguished by its white-painted grooved siding that rises into a soaring, flared spire topped with a Scandinavian metal ornament. Strikingly simple, it is a stark tombstone for the deceased agricultural town of Bowen (1883–1901). The congregation has been active for well over a century.
