This is the city’s finest Queen Anne residence, exuding eclectic self-confidence, with elements projecting in all directions. The exterior includes a regional variation on the usual stucco that incorporates embedded sea shells. The interior possesses a sumptuous range of materials and exotic design details, including Japonesque and Moorish, that illustrate the full potential of craftsmanship. In 2015 some interior spaces were modified when SCAD converted it into its second guest house. The residence across the street at 126 West Hall (1896) is an elaborate example of Colonial Revival with a rare use of graduated clapboarding, which exposes less of the lower boards to weather.
