The north side of this block is composed of a unique row of late-nineteenth-century single shotgun houses, with their distinctive single-room width and multiple-room depth under a front-facing gable, usually set with a porch. While many such rows once existed, most have been demolished and only isolated examples of single or double shotguns survive.
