Built by the Hawley Construction Company at the peak of development occurring west of Bull Street, this two-story side-hall gabled house features a front and side double gallery. An example of Steamboat Gothic, it boasts Savannah’s most elaborate wooden latticework and fretwork, as well as extended eaves and cornice brackets. A similar use of arched lattice frames in an overall simpler design can be found nearby at 1312–1314 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, which dates before 1898, with its double gallery added in 1916.
