Old Main is an excellent contrast to the Old Pioneer building. Here the scale has been shifted over into the public realm by the three stories and central domed cupola/tower. In style it has moved from the Greek Revival to the Italianate. The windows are treated as doubled narrow vertical units; the hipped roof is supported by brackets; and a perfect piered Italianate porch serves as an entrance.
