By 1847, Lull was so flush from building commissions and other financial interests that he was able to construct his own grand brick residence comparable in form to Riverview (PR26). A three-bay wooden portico of giant-order paneled columns projects from the five-bay facade. A belvedere with paired pilasters at its corners sits on the hipped roof. It was probably from this location that Lull made his regular weather observations for the Smithsonian Institution from 1856 until his death in 1871.
