Daniel Saeger House

-A A +A
1824. 375 Main St.

This extraordinarily graceful and restrained frame house for the town's founder is distinguished by its Greek Revival styling and second-story covered walkway on three elevations. A well-proportioned pediment with fanlight at the gable end is offset by heavy interior chimneys anchoring the north and south elevations. This is an early frame house for the county, and illustrates the propensity toward the Greek Revival, here mixed with a southern flavor in the peripteral porches.
