In 1870 a Lutheran congregation bought this older building and gave it its wonderfully awkward tower, which rises 180 feet to terminate in a bulbous mansard and metal cupola. The church was remodeled in 1926 and 1948, and then sold in 1979 to a confederation of evangelical nondenominational churches, which accounts for its present name.
