If the Queen Anne Style is notable for engaging quirkiness, count on Clarence Luce to force the quality. This summer cottage for a retired naval admiral is unusual for its porch, roofed in a pair of front-facing gables (with unaligned supports) positioned toward one corner, the front elevation offset by an upstairs bay window in the corner diagonally opposite. A typical Queen Anne sunburst beams from a centered roof dormer onto the compositional tension below.
