Modern Duplexes of North Austin

In the neighborhoods of Brentwood, Allendale, and Crestview, modest post–World War II wood-frame houses are being replaced with affordable modern duplexes that use corrugated metal, limestone, and large expanses of glass. These two-story forms are altering the traditional neighborhood but attracting young home owners drawn to the modern designs. Some of the best are by Travis Young for the builder Metrohouse.
