New Life Pentecostal Church of God (Allen Memorial Presbyterian Church)

-A A +A
Allen Memorial Presbyterian Church
1910, T. Brooks Pearson. 301 W. Church St.

Merchant and banker J. W. Allen built this low-set but imposing brick church for Edna's Presbyterian congregation. It faces S. Hanover Street, the town's most prestigious residential street. Pearson, a Waco architect, framed a triple-pointed-arched loggia with thick towers; the taller of the two, at the Hanover and Church streets corner, ascends in stages to a chamfered spire. The church is stout and solid. Even in its present, rundown condition it is an imposing building.
