The second Medina County Courthouse to occupy this site, the building has seen numerous uses since the county seat was moved to Hondo in 1892. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) drastically remodeled the building in 1936, adding two wings, removing the stucco facing, and adding the projecting T-shaped exterior staircase.
