This is the oldest church building in Comanche County and has been in continuous use since its completion. St. Matthew’s exemplifies the nineteenth-century vernacular Southern church house-type. The simple, front-gabled rectangle of horizontal wood siding has four round-arched windows on each side elevation, a louvered cupola mounted above the front door, and a porch with an enclosed pediment.
