Dramatically situated on the crest of a hill overlooking downtown Weatherford, this complex replaced the city hall and fire station of 1934 at 119 Palo Pinto. The city hall is composed of a long, low, flat-roofed, rectangular building of reddish brown brick with segmental-arched windows raised on a series of low brick terraces. The effect is reminiscent of an aqueduct running across the hill. A freestanding pavilion with a pyramidal glass roof marks the entrance, and the building has two courts; one is open-air, and the other is the city council chamber. The chamber rises above the building in the form of a simple copper-clad barn. The fire station, a separate building on the site’s south side, has similar brick walls and arched openings to blend with the city hall.
