Central Rappahannock Regional Library (Lafayette Elementary School)

-A A +A
Lafayette Elementary School
1908, Philip N. Stern; E. G. Heflin and Company, builder. c. 1965, conversion. 1301 Caroline St. (at Lewis St.)

Although Stern moved toward the Colonial Revival in the design, the verticality, somewhat awkward massing, and patterned brickwork of this former school, more typical of the nineteenth century than of the twentieth, indicate a lingering Victorian sensibility.
