Hampshire Cottage

-A A +A
c. 1892. Southeast side of Hampshire County 16, northwest of Springhouse, across Capon Run from the lawn

One of the resort's most distinctive buildings, this two-story frame structure is topped with a hipped roof that extends to cover a two-tiered front porch. A large octagonal cupola with louvered faces, capped with a polygonal roof, serves as an effective attic ventilator. The building appears older than it actually is, although the decoratively sawn balusters on the porches hint at its Gay Nineties vintage.
