Nancy Moore, about whom little seems to be known, commissioned this two-story Wheeling Italianate brick house several years after the Civil War ended. Far smaller, simpler, and much less ostentatious than the houses flanking it on both sides, it seems almost prudish among its architecturally libertine neighbors. But it was here first.
