Sands House

-A A +A
1887. 209 S. Front St.

One of the island's most exuberant Queen Anne houses, this frame extravaganza has a porch with extraordinary columns shaped like elongated vases. The capitals they support want to be Ionic, but from a distance the column silhouettes appear like caryatids, with the capitals serving as heads.
