Dakota City

-A A +A

Within the town of Dakota City, the Humboldt County Courthouse ( NO091) is especially noteworthy for its PWA Moderne style. Three-and-a-half miles south of Dakota City (on route P56) is the Old Mill Farm, the site of a mill and dam on the East Fork of the Des Moines River and the location a two-story brick Italianate house. The house, which still remains, was built in 1878 by Corydon Brown. Its almost flat roof is supported by paired brackets, and there are segmented stone headers over the openings. The restored house is owned by the Humboldt County Historical Society.
