Andrews (Andrews County)

-A A +A

The landscape between Big Spring and Andrews changes from agricultural fields irrigated by radial sprinklers to grids of pump jacks that mark the northern edge of the great Permian Basin oil country. Although Andrews was founded in 1910, it was not incorporated until 1937, following the discovery of oil in the county. Drilling began in 1929. The town boasts some of the most modern and well-equipped school buildings (see SL22) in the state; they are financed by its oil industry tax base.
