Petersen Memorial Music Pavilion

The music pavilion is modeled rather clearly on Harrison Albright's design for the organ pavilion built for the 1915 Panama California International Exposition in San Diego, California. The California building, described as being based upon the Spanish Plateresque, is like the Davenport pavilion, a mixture of Hispanic Plateresque and late Renaissance elements. The designer of the Davenport pavilion nudged the building further toward the “correct” Beaux-Arts by simplifying the arched facade and by placing a freestanding Corinthian column on each side.
