This is one of Iowa's octagonal houses, inspired by (or taken from) the published designs of Orson Fowler. Although the roof of this octagon is almost flat, the central octagonal cupola is quite tall. The paired openings of the cupola are louvered, and a chimney projects from the center of the cupola's roof. The double-hung windows on the first and second floors have small pediments over them. The projecting single-floor wing is not original to the house, nor is the present sheathing of this wood-frame structure.
