Isaac H. and Eliza Cooper Thayer House

A campanile-like tower with paired windows dominates the front of this Italian Villa. The house is built of light yellowish-brown brick probably manufactured in Ionia by the Vander Heyden Company. The Thayer house has a low-pitched hipped roof with wide, paired, bracketed eaves. A wooden balcony is over the entranceway and a single-story partial-width porch with balustrade runs across the east side of the front. Isaac H. Thayer (b. 1823) and his wife, Eliza (b. 1826), moved from New England westward to Wisconsin and eventually, in 1860, back to Ionia, where Thayer operated a dry goods store.
