The church employs a simplified geometry of brick planes topped by wide copper bands that Alden Dow used extensively after World War II, particularly in public buildings. It was given an Award of Merit by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 1956. High spaces contrasting with low ones continue his earlier expressions of spatial variation, but with a more generalized vocabulary than was used in private residences. Geometric complexity appears in stained glass windows along the side aisles and with outstanding effect in the chapel to the right of the entrance.
