Artwork funded by the Public Works Administration (PWA) enhances the two-story red brick Ontonagon Elementary School addition to the Beaux-Arts classical Ontonagon Township School. Stone panels incised in sunken relief with allegorical figures depicting education—a musician, athlete, scientist, craftsman, artist, and scholar—surround the main central entrance. Ceramic tiles decorated with whimsical figures line the hall walls and a linoleum floor inlaid with storybook characters and a tiled fish fountain enliven the kindergarten room.
