This graceful, elegant work was designed by Yamasaki (1912–1986) to house all the administrative offices of the gas company in one location. It created a strong corporate identity and further affirmed the development of the civic center area. The thirty-two-story tower on a podium, with reflecting pools (later converted to flower beds) and landscaping, employs white marble, precast-concrete panels, and lacy vertical grillework in an otherwise Miesian format.
